Frequently Asked Questions

I've never skied. Can I learn here?

Absolutely. Our instructors start with basic positions on land, then get you up on two skis. Most first-timers are up within their first session.

Do you have trainer skis for kids?

Yes. We stock trainer skis and smaller combos so kids can learn safely.

When is the best time to ski?

Any time works. Lake Lure has long, skinny coves where wakes die down quickly, and the mountains block much of the wind, so smooth water is likely. Mornings are usually smoothest before the lake gets busy, and your instructor knows where to find good water all day.

Do I need to be in great shape?

Basic swimming ability and normal fitness is plenty for recreational skiing. We pace the session for your group.

Can I barefoot ski?

Yes. Barefoot riders start on a boom off the side of the boat, which makes those first runs much easier. Let us know when you call and we'll plan for it.

Can I drive the boat myself?

No. Lake Lure doesn't allow rental boats to tow anything, so every ski, wake, and tubing trip includes one of our professional instructors at the wheel. Just show up and ride. We handle the driving, the gear, and the coaching, so all you have to do is enjoy the lake.

How much time should we book?

As a rule of thumb, plan on about 20 minutes per person per activity. A group of four who each want to wakesurf and wakeboard would book about 2-3 hours. Call us and we'll help you plan the right amount of time.

What is your cancellation policy?

To change or cancel at no cost, call us at (828) 625-8066 at least 48 hours before your reservation start time. A valid credit card holds your time. Inside that 48-hour window, we charge 50% of your reservation as a cancellation fee. Refunds don't apply because we never take deposits or charge in advance. You pay once your reservation is complete.
